We'd been told about the dress rules in Dubai because of the local religion. This was more strict for women than men.
Although we tried to comply with the rules, many other tourists didn't seem to bother and they seemed to get away with it.
The rules don't seem to apply in hotel resorts such as the one where we stayed.
